Movie Clips and Kids

One thing I've noticed lately, is that my children are drawn to videos and movies. They like to watch them over and over again. They tend to find funny parts and even quote specific movie scenes. They like watching cartoon movies, home videos of themselves, and real people/character movies. My son, Trent, got a flip video camera for Christmas and he's had so much fun filming himself, his brothers and his friends. As we watch them together, there is always a bunch of giggling and laughter. I think my favorite part is after the video is put away. My kids will be smiling and laughing after the fact, about something that they just saw. It's priceless. Sometimes I'll notice them smiling and ask them what they're thinking about, and all that comes out is more laughter. They try to put it into words but can't because they're too caught up in the moment.

Grandma Balley was here this weekend and the boys watched "The Cat and the Hat" with her. She had never seen the movie and still hasn't seen the entire thing because the boys kept fast forwarding to their favorite parts. It made me realize that certain scenes in a movie can have more of an affect on you than others. You can watch the whole thing but often go back to the parts that made you laugh.
