So, I realize that it's time to dust off my camera and start playing around a bit with photography. I've been reading up on the tricks of the trade and am anxious to see if I can "look" like a professional! One author in an article stated that you should give up caffeine. It will help you think more clearly and take better photos. Guess my days of drinking Diet Pepsi are over! :)
The majority of pictures that I take are of my family at various events. For most of my life, I've had simple cameras. A couple of years ago, I wanted a camera that would be quicker. I treated myself to a FinePix S8000 and have had a good experience with it so far. I don't understand all of its features but am able to point and shoot and I usually end up with decent photos.
On Sunday, I was the "chief photographer" at a family Baptism and Birthday Party. My sister-in-law has a fancy schmancy camera and it was really fun to use. She's got some super zoomer lens and it made me feel pretty important.
A suggestion in the readings, was to use the viewfinder and NOT the digital screen. I have gotten pretty good at using the screen but think I'll go back to using the viewfinder. I need to focus on what the camera sees.
It should be interesting to play around with lighting. I'm taking my camera to school tomorrow and plan to get a few photos in my classroom. There's bound to be some compelling subjects at school!
